Chong Wei still contemplating Podium Program participation

National badminton icon, Lee Chong Wei has not made a decision on participating in the Podium Program officiated by the National Sports Institute (ISN).

According to the former world number one, he still must consider many things before joining program, including sponsorship issues.

He hopes that ISN will give him some time to go over the contract.

“I still have not made up my mind for now. My contract is extremely complicated because it’s different from the other players’ contracts,” he said, according to Harian Metro.

The Podium Program was established with the main goal of collecting gold medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. In addition, the program aims to help Malaysia finish within the top 10 countries in the 2018 Asian Games.

Besides Chong Wei, the other players that signed up are Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong (men’s doubles), Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying (mixed doubles) dan Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei (women’s doubles).
