“Tengku Abdullah’s snub doesn’t matter to me” – OKS

Datuk Ong Kim Swee does not feel discouraged despite finding out that he had not been the initial choice of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to become the head coach of Harimau Malaysia.

Kim Swee explained that there is no reason for him to feel disheartened because he feels he should learn to accept criticism with an open heart and use it as a form of motivation.

“Although I was not his (Tengku Abdullah) first choice, he believes opportunities should be given to those who have earned it. I will do whatever it takes to a make a point because I feel that he has good intentions, he said to Utusan Malaysia yesterday.

“The question of whether I was insulted or not is not relevant because I am already the head coach of Malaysia. I should only focus on things that matter, which is the national team.

“He told me to dismiss the criticism given to me and I will definitely be doing that.

“His words inspire me to challenge myself everyday,” he added.

Ong Kim Swee was appointed as head coach of Harimau Malaysia after being chosen by the Special Task Committee.

Among the members of the selection panel include Football Coaches Association Malaysia (PJBM), the National Sports Institute (NSI), National Sports Council (NSC), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and some other members.
