South African striker Katlego Mphela is pushing to secure a deal with Malaysian Super League side Terengganu FA ahead of the upcoming season.
The 31 year-old, who was famously nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award after his incredible long-range strike against Spain at the 2009 Confederations Cup, is currently on a trial stint with the Turtles.

He featured in their 3-0 friendly win over UiTM FC yesterday, though according to sources within the club, he didn’t really impress individuals within Terengganu’s coaching set-up.
However, Mphela will be given an additional chance to prove his mettle, when Terengganu take on Kuala Lumpur FA in their second pre-season friendly on Thursday.

Meanwhile, another foreign trialist – 29 year-old Malian forward Makan Dembele – will also be arriving tomorrow to compete with Mphela for the one additional foreign player slot.
As of now, Terengganu’s foreign players are made up by Gustavo Lopez, Vincent Bikana as well as Issey Nakajima.
