Liew Daren left BAM at the right time – Chong Wei

News of Liew Daren leaving the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has flooded the media within the sports industry and Malaysian badminton ace Lee Chong Wei has regarded the resignation to be the right decision.

Chong Wei claimed that Daren made his move at the right time considering the player his currently struggling with injuries.

“I heard that he wanted to leave the national team about a year ago. This year he finally made the decision to leave BAM. I know he has a recurring injury and maybe that’s why he has chosen to leave,” said Chong Wei as quoted from Harian Metro.

The former world number one also stated Daren’s departure from the national team does not mean his retirement from the sport.

The 33 year-old claimed that Daren is eligible to join any club that he likes to improve is performance and competitiveness.

“I hope that he will join other clubs or badminton association and continue playing. Maybe the stress will be less and he might be able to improve his performance.”

At the same time, the world no. 5 also wishes to step up his performance so that he can improve his ranks.

“If I maintain my performance, I might be able to climb up to no.3. But I’m aiming for no.4.”
