Johor DT to head to Thailand for pre-season friendlies

Johor Darul Ta’azim will be heading to Thailand from 16 February to 21 February, as they prepare to take their pre-season preparations up by a notch.

While the Malaysia Super League is only scheduled to resume in the middle of next month, the Southern Tigers will be going up against Muangthong United in the Asian Champions League qualifers on the 2nd of February.

Hence, JDT will be taking on Chonburi FC as well as another undisclosed Thai club, to get themselves fit in time for the ACL qualifiers.

“These games are important for us, as we want to get ourselves adjusted to the Thai style of football, since we’ll be facing Muangthong next month,” JDT’s assistant coach Ismail Ibrahim told Harian Metro.

“Before we head to Thailand, we’ll be training here and as of now, we have no plans of organizing a friendly in Johor Bahru.

“Right now, it’s all about developing an understanding. If the players are able to understand what the coach wants, then it’s a lot easier for us to identify the strongest line-up,” he added.
