Satheishtharan setting his sights on scaling bigger heights in 2016

2015 may have not been the best year for national shuttler R. Satheishtharan but he vows to step up his game to present a much greater improvement in 2016 and also aims to climb higher in the in terms of ranking.

The start of 2015 was a rather excellent one for the 19 year-old as he managed to claim the ultimate title of the German Open Youth Championship but consistency was not on his side throughout the year and he ended the year being ousted by Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin in the group stage of the National GP.

“I started off quite well but then I lost focus because there was a little problem between BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) and the place I play,” said Satheishtharan as quoted from Berita Harian.

Despite being the only national men’s singles’ player to make it as far as the quarter finals of the World Youth Championship in Peru last November, he still is not content with his performance and claimed he could do better.

“Actually I could have gone further in the championship but I failed to utilize the opportunity I had. I want to get back on focusing in the senior level championships and at the same time I want to improve my rank.”

Satheishtharan also made a target to win the International Challenge and take part in Grand Prix Gold events to gather more points. The shuttler now stands at no.321 in the World Ranking.
