SportExcel chairman Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar claimed that more youth championships and events can be held as long as there are extra form of funds or financial allocation.
According to Tunku Imran, SportExcel, whom celebrated its silver jubilee this year, only receives a total of RM 700,000 through sponsorship every year.
“We don’t want to put a target or label on how much allocation we need this year because our main target and focus is to develop young athletes,” said Tunku Imran as quoted from Harian Metro.
“What we want to say from this is that the more the allocation, the more the number of events that can be held.”
“At the same time, we want all events to include foreign athletes, just like golf.”
Tunku Imran also stated that there is a lack of frequency in youth events held in the nation.
“We need to organize more championships in the youth level in a constant time basis. Championships such as MSN and MSSM are only held for a week once a year.”
