Technical director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Morten Frost strongly suggests that only the best will be chosen to represent Malaysia in the Asia Team Championship in Hyderabad, India, next month.
The championship, also a springboard to qualify in the Thomas and Uber Cup held in China this May, will see a series of outstanding players from the association and also professional players outside BAM.
“Our main target is to qualify in the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup through this championship. I believe the men’s team will make it past the qualifying rounds,” said Frost as quoted form Harian Metro.
“The women’s team may be struggling. Nontheless, we do have a strong player in the women’s singles section and the women’s doubles section.”
Changes will be done in order to improve the doubles’ team overall.
The squad will be captained by national ace Lee Chong Wei, followed by Chong Wei Feng as the second selection. The main players for the men’s singles section will also comprise of National GP champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli.
