Azizulhasni defers studies to focus on Rio Olympics

All things come with a price and for national cyclist Azizulhasni Awang to take part in the Rio Olympics this year he has decided to put his studies on hold for a year.

The 28 year-old, known by his moniker The Pocket Rocketman, claimed that the sacrifice was necessary in order to direct his full focus on his trainings and upcoming tournaments in order to prepare himself for the grand event this August in Rio de Janeiro.

“The year 2016 is an important year for me because I have to completely focus on qualifying for Rio and also I have a mission to bring home a gold medal,” said Azizulhasni as quoted from Utusan.

“I had to postpone my studies in the University of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, for a year to give way for my training and competitions before Rio 2016.

In the 2012 Olympics in London, Azizulhasni only managed to go as far as eight place in the sprint event but successfully clinched sixth place in the keirin event.
