Muhammad Ashraf bowed out of The World University Games (Universiade) after he was outclassed by Viacheslav Krivosheev 4-1 in the second round of the table tennis tournament.
Although Ashraf bounced back to win the third set after losing the first two sets, his Russian counterpart eventually seized the next two sets to claim the win.
“I was able to go head to head with him in the first two sets but unfortunately my mistakes came back to haunt me.” Ashraf said, as quoted by Harian Metro.
“However, I am satisfied because I’ve hit my target and competing in a international tournament like this is a fantastic experience for me.” He added.
This news is also devastating considering Malaysia’s only medal to date at the Universiade is a solitary bronze medal, won by the badminton team
