National Moto2 racer, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman managed to secure points in the World Championship after a decent finish in the Italian Grand Prix yesterday.
Representing Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, Azlan successfully placed himself 15th overall with a time record of 40m 08.260s. He bagged a total of one point even after starting 24th on the grid on the Mugello track.
Despite it being one point, the achievement is praiseworthy considering that he only made his Moto2 debut last year.
Meanwhile, compatriot Hafizh Syahrin had a race to forget as he failed to finish the race after being involved in a minor accident on the track. Starting 14th on the grid with his Petronas Raceline Malaysia bike, Hafizh retired from the race on lap 13.
“I am disappointed with the results today (yesterday). I was rushing to chase the rider in front and lost control of my motorcycle so I fell down. I apologize to everyone and promise to bounce back in Catalunya two weeks later,” said Hafizh as quoted from Utusan.
