Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, whom managed to rake three gold medals in the archery event of the SEA Games, admits that her performance in the upcoming Summer Universiade is just as important as the Olympics.
“The Universiade will be a platform that will be on par with the Olympics for archery, especially the Compound event, since Compound events are not included in the Olympics programme,” Fatin said as quoted form Bernama.
“Therefore, the Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea next month will be the Olympics for archers like us who compete in Compound events.”
Fatin is set to meet compound top seed, Sarah Lopez of Colombia in the Universiade.
“I have been a national archer for six years and hope to draw on my experience in Gwangju. Competition will be stiff in Gwangju for sure it will be a 50-50 encounter,” she added.
