Novak Djokovic largely dominated Roger Federer at the Wimbledon finals in a four set win and tasted his third Wimbledon title, but that was not the only that he tasted.
After beating Federer, the world no 1 bent down on his knees and pinched a couple of grass before ‘savoring the moment’.
When questioned, ‘the joker’ jokingly praised the groundkeepers for growing healthy, organic and natural food.
“It tastes very, very good this year,” Djokovic said.
“I don’t know what the groundskeepers have done, but they’ve done a great job. It’s a little tradition obviously.
“As a kid I was dreaming of winning Wimbledon, so, like every child, you dream of doing something crazy when you actually achieve it — if you achieve it — and that was one of the things.
“I was assured that it’s gluten free, it’s not processed, completely organic and natural and I could eat it,” Djokovic said in the post match press conference.
“It was obviously nice to repeat this tradition and doing the thing I do after I win the title here in Wimbledon. As I said on the court, when I was a child dreaming of winning Wimbledon, it was something I always wanted to do in my celebration. I picked that. I hope people are not annoyed by that.”
Well you know what they say Djokovic, the grass is always greener on the other side.
