Women’s World Hockey League: Malaysia down Russia 3-0

The Malaysian women’s hockey squad has secured their second consecutive win in the group stages of the World Hockey League, after whooping Russia to round off a 3-0 victory in New Delhi.

The Russian team pulled off a good start in the first half, defending well to keep it 0-0, though Malaysia’s Hanis Onn eventually broke the deadlock on the 37th minute.

The Malaysian team, more commonly known as the Blue Tigress, then netted their second goal on the 40th minute, through Juliani Din before Fazilla Sylvester Silin fired their third goal to wrap up the match.

This victory cements their spot on top of the Group D standings, following their 8-0 victory in the opening match against Kazakhstan. Nashihin Nubil’s girls will next face Singapore, while Russia will take on Kazakhstan.
