Johor DT 2-1 Sarawak: Southern Tigers put Crocs to the sword

Johor DT secured vital three points after coming from behind to secure a morale-boosting victory over Sarawak FA earlier today.

The home side started the game well, pushing hard through the middle of the park with Hariss and Safiq Rahim dictating proceedings. But Sarawak were equally diligent in keeping their defence tight, as they looked to hit JDT on the counter. And their efforts certainly paid dividends as Billy Mehmet fired home to make it 1-0 midway through the first half.

However, the Southern Tigers kept going at it and they earned a free kick from a key position on the 38th minute. Safiq Rahim stepped up as usual and curled home to make it 1-1. But just when you though the game was going to be dragged into half time, Safiq scored again to grant Johor DT the lead.

After the break, both sides kept going at each other; it was end-to-end stuff at times. Nazrin Nawi fired a couple of shots above target, while Ivan Fatic’s header was cleared away by Junior Eldstal midway through the second half.

Hariss Harun continued to dominate the middle of the park, with Safiq Rahim looking extremely confident in a free role that was given to him in this match. Either way, both sides had their fair share of opportunities, though the home side eventually held on to secure a victory that granted them pivotal three points as well as a victory that will undoubtedly boost their spirits after the heartbreak last weekend.
