Perak 0-0 Kelantan: Red Warriors nullify Karathu’s troops

Perak extended their unbeaten start to the season by battling out a 0-0 draw against Kelantan in their Malaysia Super League clash earlier today.

Datuk M. Karathu side went into this game without their star performer Namkung Woong, though they had Marco Tulio back in the starting line-up, while Kelantan opted to field all their foreign players, leaving Norfarhan and Wan Zack Haikal on the bench.

But while Kelantan looked solid on paper, Perak had the better start to the game, dominating the ball early on in the game, though Kelantan eventually came into it as well. Chances weren’t exactly in abundance, with most of the battle being fought in midfield. Piya attempted to produce several through balls, though Thiago and co looked relatively solid at the heart of Perak’s defence.

Erwin Carillo had two chances in the first half, but none of them could penetrate through Zamir Selamat’s goal. After the break, the game continued with the exact same tempo; both sides pushing at each other to find the coveted winner. But there was also an air of caution about this game; Perak not wanting to suffer a defeat while Kelantan determined to continue their recovery after that 4-0 defeat to PDRM.

While the Red Warriors eventually seized the momentum midway through the second half, none of their attacks could ultimately breach the defence formation led by Thiago, who continues to look like an astute acquisition. At the end of the match, it was 0-0; a scoreline that both sides will certainly be satisfied with.
