National badminton coach Pang Cheh Chang says that he respects the decision of Tan Boon Heong to depart from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
BAM has been facing a mini crisis of their own, with quite a number of players resigning in recent times, including Boon Heong, who submitted his resignation letter to the office on Wednesday. But as far as Cheh Chang is concerned, he doesn’t hold any grudges against Boon Heong for departing at this point in time.
In fact, Cheh Chang believes that Boon Heong’s affiliation doesn’t really matter, as long as he continues to represent Malaysia on the international scene.
“It doesn’t matter who he plays for or partners next but he’ll still be regarded as a professional player that comes from Malaysia. That to me, is the most important thing,” he told Harian Metro.
“This will also be a good opportunity for the junior players to step up and continue developing themselves so that they can make Malaysia proud one day.”
