Malaysian squash queen Nicol David suffered a defeat in the final of the 2015 Windy City Open after falling to Egyptian Raneem El Weleily in Chicago.
Nicol was bidding to secure her 80th career title, but Raneem was absolutely on-song in this one, clinching the final with a 14-16, 12-10, 11-7, 11-7 victory.
The Egyptian has suffered 18 straight defeats against Nicol prior to this, and she took 57 minutes to put an end to that in the final. While she dropped the first set, Raneem powered back to win the next three sets to eventually triumph.
The defeat marks Nicol’s second defeat of the year, after suffering a quarter-final exit at the hands of Alison Waters during the Tournament of Champions in January.
Nicol though, will have a chance to clinch her 80th career title when the British Open gets underway in two months time.
