Tan Boon Heong quits BAM

National men’s doubles shuttler Tan Boon Heong has officially resigned from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)/

Following the recent exodus of experienced players from BAM, Boon Heong is now the third men’s doubles shuttler to pull out from the national set-up, with  Lim Khim Wah and Hoon Thien How being the other two

However, BAM claims that Boon Heong hasn’t reasoned out his departure despite handing in his resignation on Wednesday.

The former world number one, who once partnered Koo Kien Keat, was exceptional during the early stages of his career, securing the gold medal during the 2006 Doha Asian Games, besides winning the 2007 All England Championship.

The Malaysian duo were also so close to clinching the 2010 BWF World Championship title, though they were beaten by China’s Cai Yun and Fu Hai Feng in the final. That being said, that achievement did get them into the record books as they became the first Malaysian pair to enter the World Championship final in over 13 years.
