Former Marussia driver Max Chilton has shifted to sports car racing after agreeing to race for Nissan in the 2015 World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The Brit, who missed the final three F1 races of last season when Marussia went into administration, has signed with Nissan for one year and secured the final spot in the their LMP1 squad for the start of the season.
Though Manor Marussia is on the verge of returning to Formula One after finding a new investment, Chilton revealed that his racing future lies away from F1; despite being there for two years.
“I’m honoured to have been asked to join a manufacturer as prestigious as Nissan in a championship that is growing year on year,” Chilton told AutoSport.
“Le Mans has always had an amazing following and to be racing there as a works driver is a dream come true. My aim has always been to race at the highest level and the technology that has gone into the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO is as impressive as a Formula 1 car.”
The former F1 driver will make his World Endurance Championship debut in the season opener at Silverstone on April 12.
