Malaysian women’s doubles shuttlers Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei are the only Malaysians left standing in the German Open after clinching a victory over Taiwan’s Hsu Ya Ching and Pai Yu Po, to advance to the third round.
The Glasgow Commonwealth Games champions only needed 25 minutes to down the Taiwanese mixed doubles team with a 21-13, 21-14 victory in straight sets.
In the next round, Vivian and Woon will be taking on South Korea’s Lee So Hee and Shin Seung Chan who demolished India’s Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa 21-8, 21-10.
Meanwhile, Malaysian mixed doubles team Aik Quan Tan and Pei Jing Lai were sent packing by Irish siblings Sam Magee and Chloe Magee.
The Malaysian duo fell to the Irish team 21-13, 21-14 in just 35 minutes. The victory allowed the Sam-Chloe to set-up a meeting against Germany’s Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels in the next round.
