I improved after leaving BAM – Arif Latif

Malaysian shuttler Arif Latif claims that he has improved as a player after departing the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) back in 2013.

The 25 year-old is currently under the tutelage of the One Badminton Academy and is currently preparing for the All England qualifers, where he will be looking to impress and secure a slot in the main draws.

The challenge will be tough, but Arif thinks he’s well equipped to deal with it; claiming that the absence of pressure, that previously existed in BAM, has significantly benefited his growth.

“I’m still playing for the nation, although I’m classified as an independent shuttler. In fact, I think I’ve improved a lot since departing BAM back in 2013,” he told Harian Metro.

“My ranking has also improved, and I want to keep doing well so that I can secure a slot at the Rio Olympics in 2016.”

Ranked 54th in the world, Arif Latif will face Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia in the first round of the All England Championship, should he get pass the qualifiers effectively.
