Wei Feng pulls out of All England Championship

National shuttler Chong Wei Feng has pulled out of the All-England Championship as he continues his struggle with thigh injury.

Wei Feng, who was supposed to be one of the three individuals to participate at the All England qualifiers, claims that while he is 80% recovered, he is opting to not risk aggravating his injury and is keen on acquiring enough rest.

And with Olympic qualification at stakes, Wei Feng’s inability to compete in Birmingham would put a massive dent on his hopes of acquiring enough points to make it for Rio.

His withdrawal also means that Malaysia’s hopes of having a representative in the main draw of the All England Championship now rests on independent shuttlers Arif Latif and Zulfadli Zulkifli.

No Malaysian shuttler has been seeded for All England Championship this year, something that’s happening for the first time in over 45 years.
