National hockey player Faizal Saari’s dissatisfaction towards the MHC is said to be the reason behind his absence from the current national set-up.
After Malaysia’s triumph at the World Hockey League last month, both Faizal and Mohd. Fitri have not participated in any of the trainings of friendly matches held for the national hockey team.
While the 21 year-old has had discplinary issues in the past, particularly regarding punctuality and failures of reporting for trainings, this particular one seems to have a difference reason.
Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin has instructed National Sports Council (NSC) Director General Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail to solve the issue in an amicable way.
“I have been told that Faizal is unhappy with the MHC, but I’ve not heard the reason from him directly,” Khairy told Harian Metro.
“But he is such a special player and has a huge talent. It would be such a waste if this does not get resolved in a proper way.”
The Terengganu-born player started his international career at the age of 18 when he made his national senior team debut in 2009.
