National independent shuttler Arif Latif is ready to battle it out at the All England qualifiers to not only secure a spot in the main draw, but also clinch more points to increase his chances of making it for the Olympic Games.
The former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) player believes that this competition is an opportunity for him to step up his game and take advantage of his current momentum with Olympic qualification at stake.
The independent player has been in good form of late, particularly with his recent victory in the Kopiko Purple League and the Malaysian Open GP. And as far as his is concerned, his form is primarily due to the absence of pressure, a scenario that only appeared after his departure from BAM
“I have no pressure from anyone from the top or my club,” Arif told Utusan Malaysia.
“I play happily and everything is up to me.”
That being said, the 26 year-old isn’t planning on taking the All England qualifiers lightly, claiming that his opponent in the form of World No 27 Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka will not be easy to beat.
“Our playing levels may be the same and I want to do my best to gain more points,” he added.
