Malaysian cycling head coach John Beasley has criticized the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) for their poor financial planning.
The national squad, which recently secured two golds, three silvers and four bronze medals from the Asian Cycling Championship, were initially stranded at the Melbourne airport for two hours before their departure to Thailand, due to unpaid tickets.
After the arrival of the squad in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, they were unable to stay at the hotel that was initially booked for them near the Velodrome, since the deposit was not paid.
Hence, the squad had to settle for a hotel that was 20 kilometres away. John Beasley is visibly unhappy with all the issues they’ve had and he primarily blamed the president’s special assistant, Aizad Othman for the entire mess and claims that individuals like him should be removed from the organization.
“This is just another time that this has happened because this person has been allowed to handle matters, it seems to happen every time he is handling it,” John Beasley told New Straits Times.
“There are some good people in the federation, some who really want to do good for the sport. But not this guy, yes I will go ahead and tell you his name – Aizad Othman.”
“I don’t care what happens to me. So you can go ahead and tell the federation, these are the sorts of people they need to weed out.”
