The Malaysian sepak takraw squad emerged as the 2015 Istaf Super Series champions after overcoming defending champions, Thailand at the Melaka International Trade Centre yesterday.
Farhan Adam, who captained the team that was inclusive of Syahir Rosdi, Hanafiah Dollah and Khairol Zaman, managed to defeat Thailand with a 21-7, 21-19 straight sets win in just 50 minutes.
This marks the Malaysia’s first victory against Thailand since the 2005 SEA Games finals and their first win in the series since 2011.
“This is a significant victory considering that our sepak takraw contingent has gone through a lot in recent times,” Malaysia Sepak Takraw Association (PSM) President Dato’ Hj. Ahmad Ismail told Harian Metro.
He is also hoping that this win will boost the squad’s confidence and morale to continue their success in future tournaments.
