BAM’s Jeremy Gan refuses to hit panic button

National doubles’ head coach Jeremy Gan is refusing to panic despite the recent exodus of experienced players from the Badminton Association of Malaysia.

Hoon Thien How and Lim Khim Wah were the latest individuals to quit the national set-up and pursue a different pasture but Jeremy Gan remains composed about the situation, claiming that he has a back-up plan to deal with it.

“We’ve already called up the likes of Teo Kok Siang, Chooi Kah Ming, Tan Wee Gieen and Teo Ee Yi to beef up the squad. These guys have already been given international exposure, so we’ll figure out the best way to prepare them,” he told Harian Metro.

“I will discuss with other coaches before coming to a decision regarding team pairings. Either way, if players leave us, they need to have a vision of where they want to go. It’s up to them to make the right decision for themselves.”

Rumours are also circulating that Tan Boon Heong could be the next individual to depart BAM though there has been no official confirmation on that.
