National cycling star Mohd Azizulhasni Awang secured a gold medal for Malaysia in the keirin event at the Asian Cycling Championship (ACC).
The 27 year-old, who is well known as the “Pocket Rocket Man”, defeated two of Japan’s strongest competitors in the competition, Kazunari Watanabe and Yuto Wakimoto with a 50 meters lead to claim the gold medal.
“This is the easiest win I have ever achieves throughout my career in the Keirin event, in an Asian cycling competition.” Azizulhasni told Utusan Malaysia.
“I do not know what happened to the other two Japan competitors.”
Azizulhasni made history in 2008 by becoming the first Malaysian track cyclist to clinch to victories in the Keirin and Sprint events at the Asian Cycling Championship.
