Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri believes that the Maybank Malaysian Open presents a solid chance for him to potentially do well and climb up the ladder of the PGA World Rankings.
The 27 year-old made his debut in the European Tour last year, going up against the likes of Lee Westwood and he is keen on continuing his climb up the sporting ladder.
“This tournament is an opportunity for me to move up the world rankings” Lahiri told Fourthofficial.com
“I’m definitely motivated to achieve that. I’ve already played with the best players in the Asian Tour as well as the European Tour and it certainly boosts your willpower to want to do well and defeat big names.”
Lahiri finished 10th in the Maybank Malaysian Open last year, though he went on to perform admirably throughout the year to be voted as the Asian Tour’s Player of the Year for 2014. This time around, he intends to do better.
“For me to be able to do better this year compared to last year, I need to play happily. I have this thing where I tend to play better when I’m happy. Maybe it makes me comfortable.”
