Malaysian teenage golf prodigy Galven Green is hoping to be able to overcome his fears and do well at the Maybank Malaysian Open.
The former World Under-8 champion is currently 15 years old, and he qualified as the youngest amateur to be able to compete in this prestigious tournament, which will feature the likes of Lee Westwood .
But Galven himself is looking forward the opportunity, claiming that this will be the best platform for him to compete with big names and overcome his fears.
“I feel like it is going to be a huge challenge for me,” Galven told FourthOfficial.com
“However, this is a good challenge for me to step up my game and overcome my fears”. It’s going to be a real big one for me.”
Former World No. 1 golfer Lee Westwood will certainly head into the tournament as massive favourite to triumph and he is also the defending champion after clinching the title last year. Galven proclaimed his admiration for Westwood before also adding on that it’ll be amazing to play against the British golfer.
“It would be so cool to be able to play against Westwood. It’s an amazing opportunity,” he added.
In this year’s edition, golfers will be battling for bragging rights as well as US$3 million cash prize, which is a hike from the previous edition of the tournament that had a US$2.75 million jackpot as the cash prize.
In addition to world ranking, points earned at the Maybank Malaysian Open will contribute to the Asian Tour Order of Merit and will also count towards European Tour’s Race to Dubai 2015.
