National women’s shuttler Yang Li Lian has decided to quit BAM and retire from the sport altogether.
Li Lian submitted her letter of resignation recently and has officially pulled out of the national squad. The 22 year-old then revealed that her inconsistent performances over the last three years have been frustrating and she feels that things would not entirely go upwards from here.
She also has plans to pursue A levels before going abroad to continue her tertiary education in a field that would be suitable for a bright career path.
“I feel like I have been wasting too much time in badminton and my dreams of being a national champion doesn’t seem like it will ever happen,” Yang Yi Lian told Kosmo.
“Hence, I made the decision to quit. This is my decision and I have plans for the future. I don’t intend to come back to the sport again.”
This comes after Ng Hui Lin also resigned from BAM in December, though her decision was premised upon her dissatisfaction with BAM’s actions and plans for the future.
