Australian Open: Serena Williams secures quarter-final spot.

18-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is through to the Australian Open quarter-final after defeating Garbine Muguruza earlier today.

The American top seed got the perfect revenge for her defeat at the French Open last year; securing a comeback 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over the hardworking Venezuelan.

She dropped the first set 2-6, but powered her way through the second set, before ultimately clinching the tie in the third set.

Serena Williams will next meet Dominika Cibulkova, who beat two-time champion Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in their third round tie.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray will be taking on Australian teenage star Nick Krygios in the quarter finals after the 19 year-old triumphed in a five-set thriller against Andreas Seppi.
