British number one Andy Murray will be going up against Nick Kyrgios in the quarter finals of the Australian Open as he seeks to continue his bid of triumphing in the inaugural Grand Slam of the year.
The sixth seed secured his spot in the quarter-finals after defeating Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov with an easy 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 7-5 victory in straight sets.
Nick Kyrgios who became the first Australian to reach the Australian Open’s quarterfinals in 10 years, will be his opponent in the last eight.
The 19 year-old had a tight start in the third round, losing the first two sets before defeating Italy’s Andreas Seppi with a 5-7 4-6 6-3 (7-5) 8-6 victory.
Kyrgios also revealed to ABS news that his five-set win over Andreas Seppi was more satisfying than his groundbreaking victory over Rafael Nadal in last year’s Wimbledon.
