World No.1 squash player Nicol David has been effectively knocked out of the Tournament of Champions after falling to England’s Alison Waters.
Despite being massive favourites to clinch the title, Nicol suffered a shocking defeat in the quarters, with Alison winning 11-9, 10-12, 11-7, 11-1 to book her spot in the semis.
Alison started incredibly well, taking the first set despite a close battle, but Nicol bounced back to claim the second set 12-10. Alison though, was far more rampant in the third set, winning it 11-7 before whitewashing Nicol in the fourth set, winning 11-1.
The England squash player will now take on Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini in the semi finals after she defeat fellow Egyptian Nour Ell Tayeb with a 11-5, 10-12, 11-3, 12-14, 11-9 in their quarter finals tie.
Nicol though, will be looking forward to turn things around at the Cleveland Masters later this month.
