World Hockey League: Malaysia rip Oman apart

The Malaysian national hockey team were in sensational form as they secured their second win of the World Hockey League campaign by running rampant over Oman.

Tan Beng Hai’s men secured a comprehensive 7-0 victory, hooking themselves to the top of the Group A league table.

Razie Abdul Rahim opened the scoring as early as on the 7th minute mark, before Faizal Shaari made it 2-0 on the 17th minute. That was followed by goals from Marhan Abdul Jalil (22nd and 27th minute), before Razie added his second of the day on the 38th minute.

Izwan Firdaus made it 6-0 on the 44th minute, but two minutes later, Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin netted Malaysia’s seventh goal of the day to wrap up a comfortable victory.

This victory means that Malaysia are now on six points, following their opening day win over Ukraine. They are currently on top of Group A, with Ukraine behind them on three points, while Oman are third on three points as well. Singapore remain rooted to the bottom, having lost both their matches thus far.

The Malaysian squad will next face Singapore on Tuesday at the Hoki Sengkang Stadium, Singapore.
