World number 6 Andy Murray is through to the second round of Australian Open after clinching a competitive victory over Yuki Bhambri.
The two-time Grand Slam champion clinched the first set comfortably, winning 6-3. The second set was also relatively straightforward for Murray, and he won it 6-4.
But the third set was slightly complicated. Indian qualifier Yuri upped his tempo and caused a little issue, though Murray ultimately did win it 7-6, to secure progression into the next round.
The 27 year-old will now face Australia’s Marinko Matosevic in the second round of the competition.
Murray is bidding to become the first player to clinch the Australian Open title after losing three consecutive finals, and the Brit is certainly off high morale as of now, after his impressive display at the recent Hopman Cup.
