Torres is perfect for Atletico – Bayern’s Pep Guardiola

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola believes that Fernando Torres is a massive addition to the Atletico Madrid squad, claiming that he fits into their system perfectly.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker recently returned to Atletico on a loan spell from AC Milan and he sent shockwaves around the world with his two-goal performance against Real Madrid in midweek.

Atletico already boasts the likes of Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann in their forward department but Pep Guardiola believes that they are much more of a threat with the addition of Fernando Torres to their squad.

“Torres is a crack player, he knows Atletico are the club of his heart, and he’s perfect for them,” Guardiola told reporters.

“Simeone likes to play counterattacking football and Torres fits perfectly into the club and their system.”

Bayern Munich are currently in Doha for their winter training camp and upon return to Germany, they will be resuming their league duties while one eye will certainly be kept on the Champions League knockout stages.

The German champions will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Round of 16, but Guardiola is already looking beyond that tie by pin-pointing teams that could potentially challenge for the coveted trophy.

Atletico, Barca and Real Madrid can complicate things at Bayern in Europe,” he added. “Chelsea are also going to fight, perhaps PSG and, of course, we’ll be up there too.”
