The 2015 Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix’s starting time may be rescheduled to avoid unwanted incidents like the Jules Bianchi crash which took place last year.
SIC Chief Executive Officer, Razlan Razali, who has been in talks with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, revealed that their discussion also involved the possibility of changing the race time from 1600 to 1500 local time, considering that heavy downpours that arrive later in the day have affected the last two races in Sepang.
Jules Bianchi’s accident has triggered extensive discourse on taking more steps and being more diligent in dealing with safety precautions. And Bernie is optimistic about pursuing this option as he believes that this will be help reduce the risk.
“Mr Ecclestone mentioned that because of the Suzuka incident, the FIA now has some time limit,” Razali told Reuters.
“So he is reviewing the possibility of shifting the time of the race. For us it’s good. It’s a safer time bracket…so now people can come in for lunch, watch the race and about five o’clock they can go back (home).”
