Wolfsburg starlet killed in car crash

Wolfsburg wonderkid Junior Malanda was killed in a fatal car accident that took place near Biefield in Germany on Saturday afternoon.

The 20 year-old Belgian was scheduled to fly off for a winter training camp in the evening but was unfortunately pronounced dead  by medical officers upon arrival at the scene of the accident.

“We are all deeply upset,” said Wolfsburg managing director of Klaus Allofs.

“We all loved him. He was the good spirit of our team and a fun-loving person. In addition, Junior was an excellent football player who stood at the beginning of his development.

“We cannot still believe that he is no longer with us. Our thoughts are in these difficult hours with his family and his relatives.”

The Belgian Football Association also released a statement that read: “The football world today lost a great talent. Junior Malanda lost his life this afternoon, at the age of 20. The Belgian Football Association extends its sympathy to family and friends.”

Malanda previously plied his trade with Zulte Waregem before making the move over to Wolfsburg in 2013. He struggled with injuries in his first season, but was already making an impression in the ongoing campaign, scoring two goals in 10 appearances.
