FELDA preparing for Persib Bandung cruncher

FELDA United will be unleashing their best squad ahead of what could potentially be their toughest pre-season challenge yet when they take on Indonesian powerhouses Persib Bandung.

The reigning Indonesian Super League champion will be hosting in Bandung and it will be FELDA’s first friendly clash after returning from a pre-season tour in Dubai.

However, Irfan Bakti primarily used to the Dubai tour to tinker with his squad and figure out the right formula for the upcoming season of football; something that he doesn’t intend to do against Persib, claiming that it will be an opportunity for him to play his best squad.

“This is my first chance to play my best team, considering that I haven’t been able to do so in recent games, due to several factors,” Irfan told Harian Metro.

“We will be going to Bandung with the full squad and this match provides me the opportunity to test the strength and understanding between my first team players.”

Contrary to what most teams have done, FELDA have not entirely revamped their team. In fact, they’ve retained the core of it, including their foreign players, though they have made several additions to boost key areas.

Shahrul Saad, Rashid Aya and Fauzan Dzulkifli have all been brought into the squad to add depth, and they have also strengthened their backline by introducing Bojan Miladonovic from Serbia as their only new foreign signing for the season.

“Last season, my problem was that I did not have a strong substitute bench. But that has been sorted for the new season and we’ve brought in some new faces who will definitely make the bench adequately strong.”
