Southern Tigers to prioritize Malaysia Super League – TMJ

Johor DT may be competing actively on all fronts but as far as their priority is concerned, the Super League challenge is certainly at the top.

The Southern Tigers are the reigning Super League champions, but they weren’t too lucky in other competitions last year, finishing as runners up in the Malaysia Cup, while reaching the semis of the FA Cup earlier in the year.

But with the new season of Malaysian football set to kick off in less than a month, the Johor Crown Prince, fondly known as TMJ, has urged everyone within the team to keep their head focused on the coveted league title and treat it as their number one priority.

“We have a new generation of people and the world focuses more on the action that takes place within the league. So our focus for every year will still be the Super League,” TMJ said in a press conference.

“Obviously it would be great to win the league, but our goal is to finish in the top 3 spots every year. As far as the FA Cup and the Malaysia Cup is concerned, our aim is to make the semi finals of those competitions.

The Johor DT team is currently in Australia on a pre-season tour to shape their squad for the upcoming season. But besides that, a plethora of other plans have been put in place to further enhance the growth and development of football within the state; which according to TMJ, should take a higher pedestal.

“We have plenty of plans in store and as I said, the priority should be given towards the development of football in Johor and the provision of excellent infrastructure for our players. Trophies are merely a bonus.

“Even if we don’t win trophies, that does not mean that our structure will go down the drains.”
