Johor DT dismantled by Palestine in pre-season friendly

Johor DT suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Palestinean national team in a friendly that was held behind closed doors in Sydney.

The Southern Tigers are currently preparing for the upcoming season of Malaysian football, while Palestine are shaping their squad ahead of the Asian Cup, which is scheduled to take place in a few days.

Both sides agreed to a friendly match in Sydney, with former Australian international Scott Ollerenshaw himself facilitating the opportunity and it certainly did provide both teams the test they needed.

Palestine were 1-0 up by half time, but they went on to score three more goals in the second half to systematically dismantle the Johor DT side. Bojan Hodak’s men did pull one back, courtesy of an own goal, but they struggled to penetrate a very composed Palestinean side despite having a decent amount of chances as well.

That being said, the preparation would have been extremely vital, especially for their tricky Asian Champions League qualifiers tie against FC Bengaluru of India.

As for Palestine, they will be opening their Asian Cup campaign against regional powerhouse Japan on the 12th of January.
