Former British number one Laura Robson is set to miss the Australian Open due to a wrist injury that occurred last year.
The 20 year old will be missing the first Grand Slam event of the season which begins on the 19th of January. Laura has been out of action ever since she lost to Kirsten Flipkens in last year’s Australian Open and had to undergo a surgery in April.
This caused her to miss out on the French Open, Wimbledon and several other tournaments as well.
Moreover, the 2008 Wimbledon’s junior champion’s world ranking has dropped from 27 in 2013 to 964 in 2014, as a result of her absence in the circuit.
That being said, Laura is fully focused on her recovery and plans to hit the courts once again, when February comes in. Rumours also suggest that she will be offered wildcards in major tournaments, which should assist her in climbing up the world ranking ladder.
