Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) strongly reiterated that it would not be taking any actions regarding the recent controversy of Badrul Hisyam Abdul Manap’s allegedly invalid record.
Last month, the young gun broke Watson Nyambek’s 100m event record in the ASEAN School Games in Brunei after surpassing the finish line with a total of 10.29s. However, organizers claimed that the result was invalid due to technical issues.
“As long as MAF do not have any complete documents from the Malaysian Education Ministry (MEM) or the Brunei Athletics Association (BAA), we cannot do anything,” said President of MAF, Datuk Karim Ibrahim as quoted from Berita Harian.
“If there is wish to make a complaint, it has to be through the MEM because they are involved in the ASEAN School Games.”
Nevertheless, Karim shows support to Badrul and claimed that there is no need for an official record to prove his skills.
“For me, Badrul is the fastest person in Malaysia, to officiate a world record takes about six months.”
