Malaysian top women’s singles player Tee Jing Yi heaped praises on the country’s upcoming badminton star Goh Jin Wei, despite beating her in the final of the National Grand Prix last weekend.
Jin Wei was tipped to produce a shock in the final, having recently clinched the World Junior title, but Jing Yi remained composed to seal the final title. En route to winning it though, she was able to spot several weaknesses in her younger counterpart.
“I noticed that she has some weakness in terms of speed and her ability to control the court,” she told Harian Metro.
“But for me, she doesn’t need to feel bad about the defeat. She has to continue pushing next year. I’m certainly happy that we have an excellent future star in her.
“So I hope she joins some of the biggest world tournaments next year, and maybe I can share my experiences with her,” Jing Yi added.
