Football Association of Selangor (FAS) has confirmed that every Selangor FA player will be receiving a bonus of RM50,000 as a reward for their Malaysia Cup triumph earlier this month.
The Red Giants finished second in the Malaysia Super League, but they went all the way in the Malaysia Cup, dispatching Kedah efficiently in the final. The win allowed them to end a 10-year wait for their 33rd Malaysia Cup title and team manager Amirudin Shari is determined to reward them for it.
“We’ve received approval from FAS as well as the state government, with regards to awarding the players RM50k each, for the Malaysia Cup win,” he told Harian Metro.
“Hopefully this incentive motivates the players to want to do better and give their best next year, which will inevitably be more difficult,” he added.
The Selangor players have been given a three-week break until the regroup and start preparing for the new calendar of Malaysian football.
