National young sprinter Badrul Hisyam Abdul Manap has been dominating headlines in recent times, after breaking Watson Nyambek’s 100m record at the ASEAN School Games in Brunei.
His achievements have visibly inspired others, including a 20 year-old athlete from Politeknik Muadzam Shah (PMS), Ahmad Syafiq Nasaruddin.
“Badrul’s achievement is my source of inspiration. I want to be able to run as fast as him. My best record was when I represented the Politeknik Sports Council (MSP) in the SIPMA in Perlis, I managed to record a time of 10.99s in the 100m event,” said Syafiq as quoted from Sinar Harian.
“In the world of athletics, anything can happen and there is no saying that I won’t be able to surprise everyone in the SUKIPT Sports Championship next January. InsyaAllah.”
Syafiq was crowned “Sprint King” in the Pahang Youth Sports event in June and reports suggest that he might represent Pahang for the upcoming Malaysia Games in Sarawak next year.
