If you’re an Arsenal fan, you must be having a great day today.
Arsenal had made the back pages of the papers worldwide after their sterling 3-0 over Olympiakos in the Champions League group stage. It was a jittery start but as the game went on, they managed to stay much more composed and that granted them a grand triumph.
Mesut Ozil, Joel Campbell, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker had delivered great peformances but it was a hat-trick by Olivier Giroud that sent the Gunners to an absolute advantage.
Despite being harshly criticized for his overall performance for the team since the start, it has been proven the Giroud is starting to shine brighter in the English football scene. Giroud is the fourth player to score a Champions League hat-trick for Arsenal, after Thierry Henry, Nicklas Bendtner and Danny Welbeck.
Arsene Wenger is definitely a happy man right now.
Of course, Twitter has much more to offer in terms of the comments. Social media was firing with updates and comments were blowing up since 3am. COYG and Arsenal had been the top trends of the day. The Gooners had been shedding virtual tears of joy for the triumph.
