National cyclist Mohd Shah Firdaus will be sitting out of the Melbourne Grand Prix as well as the Hong Kong Cycling World Cup, after it was confirmed that he has sustained a broken collarbone.
He was recently involved in an accident at the Keirin Cycling Championship that was held in Cambridge , New Zealand a few days ago. Despite that, he continued to compete in the tournament.
A check-up was conducted on his shoulders immediately after the tournament and it was pointed out that his clavicle was broken and a surgery would be required as well.
“Due to his injury, he will not be going to Melbourne and Hong Kong,” said head coach John Beasley, as quoted from Berita Harian.
“But despite that, we will be doing our best to prepare him for the upcoming Asian Cycling Championship in Japan, next month,” he added.
